NE England field trip
Palaeoenvironments
Permian rocks of NE England, from the desert dunes blown onto an eroded surface of Coal Measures, to the limestone reefs and evaporite deposits of the hypersaline Zechstein Sea. The trip investigates the field evidence. This field trip extends over a large area, it assumed that the journey between the sites would be made by vehicle and be undertaken over several days.
Note. The field trip map in the GeoExplore app is clearer as it can be enlarged further, plus the geology and site marker layers can be independently switched on and off for added clarity. In GeoExplore the geology layer will display unit names. Your current location is also shown on the map.
